Diane Holt, Middlesex University, United Kingdom
This paper examines green purchasing activities in forty- four UK Public Sector organisations and their relationship with their suppliers and other partners. The paper begins by presenting a literature review of green supply chain management in the Public sector and the research methodology. This paper uses two sources of primary data, a survey of green supply chain management practices and content analysis of a range of published documents. The data analysis presented in this paper focuses on the characteristics of the sample of Public Sector organisations; the main drivers of environmental management; the extent of environmental policy development and integration into purchasing; membership of industrial networks; supplier assessment and evaluation and supplier education. The paper concludes by reviewing the findings on Public Sector buyer-supplier relationships and suggests a number of avenues for future research.
