People, Culture, and Organization in supply chain management: Social, organizational and cultural influences on adpotion of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)

Understanding of people, culture and organization factors, how they are interacting in complicated information technology (IT) implementations are critical to reverse the growing trend of costly IT implementation failure. Enterprise resource planning (ERP) system is designed to meet the need of a total business solution which supports major operations of a business. This paper presents an approach to dissecting the social, organizational and cultural influences on peoples' acceptance of ERP . This paper also proposes a research framework to understand and analyze ERP innovation and implementation challenges. In addition, little research is conducted to compare the ERP implementation in Chinese companies vs. Western companies. The outcomes of comparison provide a range of issues concerning social, organizational and culture influences on adoption of ERP.
